Ottery St Mary Town Council’s Environment, Local Development and Commerce Committee have initiated a third Shop Front Fund scheme which is now open for submissions. The idea behind the scheme is to improve the look of the town making it more attractive for residents and tourists.
When the scheme last ran, over £3000 was awarded. One of these was to Rabbit and Co, who occupy a prominent position in the square. Nick Scott said at the time “It was a welcome contribution towards the costs of setting up the new site. I think these types of grants are incredibly valuable to small businesses and help us improve the look of the high street.”
The scheme is open now and applications must be received by May 31st, 2024, with work completed by 30th June. The scheme has been updated to include retrospective applications for work carried out since 1st October 2023. Successful applications will need meet the scheme criteria, the details of which are included in the application pack.
Grants are available to shops and restaurants within the Parish of Ottery St Mary which are open to the general public and sell a range of goods, foods or services.
Ottery Town Councillor John Green added “We were delighted with the success of the last scheme and the positive impact that work carried out had on the look of the High Street. We look forward to receiving more applications this year to continue the process of improving the look of Ottery’s High Street and help increase the footfall of visitors.”
The application form can be accessed via Office forms.
